What To Expect From The Same-Day Crown Process

• Preparing your tooth – First, Dr. Grundy will clean your teeth and numb your mouth to keep you comfortable. Then, he will remove any damaged or decayed material from your tooth and reshape it to create a strong, stable platform for your new crown.
• Tooth scans and crown design – Next, Dr. Grundy will use our Trios 5 scanner to take a 3D image of your mouth and your tooth. He will upload this to a computer, and use a special smile design software to create a “blueprint” for your new same-day crown.
  
  
• Milling your crown – Once Dr. Grundy is done designing your crown, he will send the design to our VHF Z4 Mill and load a block of tooth-colored porcelain into the machine. Then, this machine will automatically cut your new crown out of the porcelain block in just a few minutes.

• Final crown placement – When your crown is done, Dr. Grundy will remove it from the milling machine, clean it up, and make sure it fits perfectly. He will make any last-minute adjustments if needed, and then attach your new crown to your tooth permanently with dental cement.
